It has been brought to our attention this week that NESTOR are no longer providing subsidised CRB checks for early years and childcare providers with immediate effect. This means that if you use NESTOR as an umbrella body- please do not send any further CRB applications to them as they will not be processed. If you have CRB applications already being processed, please contact NESTOR to confirm whether or not the applications have or will be completed. We have had unconfirmed reports this week, that applications sent in as of 1 April 2010 will not be processed.

The DCSF are due to send out a letter shortly to all daycare providers advising of the changes. It is not clear at this stage whether any outstanding applications held by NESTOR will be transferred to the new umbrella body or whether new applications will have to be submitted. I spoke to the new umbrella organisation yesterday - Atlantic Data Ltd - and they advised that they have a fully electronic system for CRB applications  which will hopefully ensure that any re-applications can be processed very quickly.

The three organisations which are registered with the Criminal Records Bureau and contracted by the DCSF to countersign and process  subsidised enhanced CRB Disclosure applications are: Atlantic Data Ltd a new provider, The Media Group (TMG CRB) and Capita Recruitment Vetting Service.
